Major scale
C , (C#/Db), D , (D#/Eb), E , F , (F#/Gb) , G , (G#/Ab), A , (A#/Bb), B
Major scale consists of 7 notes choosen from those 12 above.
The formula for building Major scale is:
W-W-H-W-W-W-H
Where
"W" stands for
Whole tone
and
"H" stands for
Half tone.
Whole tone is going for example from
C to
D or
from
F# to
G# or from
Eb to
F.
Half tone is going for example from
E to
F or
from
A to
Bb or from
B to
C.
So once we understand the concept of building
Major scale
we can try to build for example
G Major scale:
If we follow our formula for
Major scale which is
W-W-H-W-W-W-H and start on G note we would get this:
G (W) A (W) B (H) C (W) D (W) E (W) F# (H) G
So the notes from
G Major scale are :
G , A , B , C , D , E , F# , G
