How to compose music

Major scale

C , (C#/Db), D , (D#/Eb), E , F , (F#/Gb) , G , (G#/Ab), A , (A#/Bb), B

Major scale consists of 7 notes choosen from those 12 above.

The formula for building Major scale is:

W-W-H-W-W-W-H

Where "W" stands for Whole tone and "H" stands for Half tone. Whole tone is going for example from C to D or from F# to G# or from Eb to F. Half tone is going for example from E to F or from A to Bb or from B to C.

So once we understand the concept of building Major scale we can try to build for example G Major scale:

If we follow our formula for Major scale which is W-W-H-W-W-W-H and start on G note we would get this:

G (W) A (W) B (H) C (W) D (W) E (W) F# (H) G

So the notes from G Major scale are :

G , A , B , C , D , E , F# , G
